From 2008 to 2012, MAGOM participated in the project known as CENIT ADAPTA (Smart and Adaptive Side Protection Technologies), a pioneering initiative at the global level which investigated the inclusion of “intelligence” into the passive safety systems of vehicles. This would improve the protection of their occupants in the event of side-on collisions, which are the cause of more than 40% of road deaths in Spain. Several leading companies, among them TRW, Anafocus, SEAT, Elecnor Deimos, Gestamp and Grupo Antolín, also participated in the project, which had the support of five technology centres, three public research entities and the University of Navarra.
